XUE LIANG DESIGN: LIQUID BAROQUE:
This purpose of this collection is to showcase the transformation of up-cycled and unconventional materials into opulent, couture wearables. Liquid Baroque is an exploration of how far the hand can manipulate and challenge the idea of “everyday waste”, questioning how we decide what objects are beautiful and needed and the possibilities of up-cycled materials in design.
Xue Liang is a unconventional wearables designer based in Toronto, Canada who works with paper, up-cycled and organic materials. She is self taught, approaching fashion from a background in graphic design having studied Design and Illustration at York University, Sheridan College and abroad at the BauHaus University in Weimar, Germany. She received the 2016 Gold award for Student work from the Advertising and Design Club of Canada as well as awards from the RGD and Applied Arts for her thesis collection “Covered”
