With Liminal, creators/performers Zhenya Cerneacov, Mairéad Filgate and Brodie Stevenson of Throwdown Collective, bring to life their first full-length stage production and most ambitious project to date.
A continuously revolving floor alters audience perspective, becoming a metaphor for the ever-changing nature of life and the relativity of a fixed viewpoint. The mundane material of the everyday — the daily act of dressing, a couple embracing – are starting points that incrementally break down into abstraction only to transform and morph, revealing the proximity of seemingly opposing states.
Bringing together a stellar artistic team, including composer Joshua Van Tassel, costume designer Sorcha Gibson, set designer David Patrick and lighting designer Arun Srinivasan, Liminal examines the nature of change over time, and reality versus perception, deconstructing our notions of a fixed centre or single point of view.
