PORCH VIEW DANCES & THE WEDDING BRIGADE
From their website:
Porch View Dances returns to Seaton Village for the fourth year running. Conceived by Karen and further developed with Allen, Porch View Dances celebrates the stories of a neighbourhood and engages ‘real people, in real time, in real spaces.’ Join us as spectators get taken through a world of enchanting dance and neighbourhood anecdotes, ending with Karen’s stunning audience inclusive Flock Landing finale in Vermont Square Park. This years' Porch View Dances features artistic couples choreographing: families choreographing on families! Works by Michael Caldwell & Louis Laberge-Cote, Karen & Allen Kaeja (Kaeja d'Dance), and Ofilio Sinbadinho & Apolonia Velasquez (Gadfly). Fun for all ages!
The Wedding Brigade is a community dance project that invites everyday women (married or not - ages 10+) to join a beautifully staged outdoor procession of women dressed in wedding white. Conceived by co-Artistic Director, Karen Kaeja, The Wedding Brigade seeks to celebrate, explore and re-frame the meaning of the white dress as a symbol of the joys and struggles that come with love and commitment. The Wedding Brigade will be performed as part of this year’s annual Porch View Dances, August 19 – 23, 2015. We'll teach you everything you need to know to be a part of this one-of-a-kind experience!
